Airports
CHO (Charlottesville) – The airport is about 15 minutes north of town. There are three daily flights from NYC, and direct flights from other places like Atlanta, Detroit, and Philadelphia. A taxi ride is about $40 from the airport to town. There are also major car rental companies at the airport.
Richmond – The Richmond airport is about a 75 minute drive from the Clifton Inn and the hotels we have room blocks for.
Dulles (Washington DC) – Dulles airport is about 2 hours north of Charlottesville.
Reagan National (Washington DC) – Reagan is about 2 1/2 hours north of Charlottesville. There are buses and trains that go from DC to Charlottesville daily.
Bus and Train
There is an Amtrak station in downtown Charlottesville. There are two or three trains a day that stop in town. The three lines served are the Cardinal (Chicago – NYC), the Crescent (New Orleans – NYC), and Northeast Regional (Boston – Lynchburg). A taxi to one of the hotels from the train station is probably about $10 or so.
There is a bus station near downtown. I have taken the bus from Washington DC. It takes about 3 hours and is a gorgeous drive through the wilderness of central Virginia.
Local Bus
The City of Charlottesville has an excellent bus transportation system. The most useful feature is a free trolley that goes from downtown to the University of Virginia area (about a mile and a half walk). If you want to see downtown and the University while you are here you would only need to get a cab to downtown and then take the trolley to the University.

Here is a list of all the taxis in Charlottesville. I probably recommend Yellow Cab or Charlottesville Cab Co. We will make sure these companies know there is an event at the Clifton in on Friday and Saturday night so there won’t be a long wait for a cab.
