I realized I should probably start testing out this Gocco I bought with the intention of making our wedding paper goods. Predictably, I gave up on using the Gocco for the save the dates and invitations, but I still have high hopes for the rehearsal dinner invites and some other goodies…

shoes?
i think i have found my wedding shoes! they came in the mail a couple of days ago and i love them!
i thought i would be looking for white shoes (or heels at least) but with the ceremony being outside, these flats will be perfect and i love the detail! the gray matches the boys’ suits too! now i just have to break them in and not change my mind a million an five times…
next search (still searching) – bridesmaids’ shoes and groomsmen’s ties

Senor Boddington
ooooh! i’m so excited about our invitations! we just sent the final proof in yesterday and the whole suite should be in by the beginning of next month. just in time to send our save the dates. originally, i had planned to make our save the dates (on the infamous gocco) but i just couldn’t resist mr. boddington and my wholesale discount from working at the paper store.
there are so many awesome invitations out there and it was really difficult for me to choose just one. fortunately (or not so for some), we still need programs, rehearsal dinner invites, and escort cards so i can play a little more with paper options.

DJ time!
We booked our DJ! His name is John Garland and we found him by way of recommendation from a friend who knows a thing or two about Charlottesville weddings – Meg Runion, a very talented local wedding photographer. It was very difficult looking for DJs because it is so hard to evaluate the choices. How are we supposed to know how good a DJ is going to be until they actually do their job at our wedding? Also, we were very interested in having a band play. We were talking with the band who played at a friend’s wedding over the summer. With both Betsy and I being pretty musical – we’re also pretty picky. I think the DJ option is the the best fit for us though. This way we know exactly the type and quality of music we are going to get. Also, we have very eclectic music tastes, and it is probably best to have a DJ piece together a set-list filled with our favorite music than ask a band to learn a bunch of new songs. We interviewed a couple DJs, and the things that attracted us to John were his professionalism, his experience (particularly his experience at our venue), and the fact that he seems like a really nice guy. We are very excited and can’t wait to help him put together a super fun night of music.
